Sport Helicopters states it plainly on its Viator listings: “Flights are subject to minimum of 2 clients sharing, for an exclusive flight, pay for one extra seat.” Cape Town Helicopters puts it as “A minimum of 2 guests is required for any flight.” NAC Helicopters states no minimum on any of its listings — which is not the same as there being none.

Yes, unless you pay for the empty seats. Cape Town Helicopters: “Helicopter tours may be shared with members of other parties; helicopters seat up to 6 people.” Sport Helicopters offers the same arrangement and sells exclusivity as one extra seat. If you want the aircraft to yourself, that is a booking option, not a different flight.

Two operators state one and they state it differently. Sport Helicopters, on Viator: “The maximum weight is 250lbs, or 113 kg per passenger.” Cape Town Helicopters lists “People over 350 lbs (159 kg)” under who the flight is not suitable for. Several Sport Helicopters listings also mention an extra seat above a certain weight, but the figure is cut off on the seller’s own page — so it is not repeated here. NAC states no limit. Every operator weighs passengers before the flight; the seat you are given depends on it.

Every listing on this site allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure — all three operators, both booking sites. The wording differs (“You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund” on Viator, “Free cancellation” on GetYourGuide) but the deadline is the same. The terms belong to the seller, not the operator, so they are shown per row rather than once for the route.

Only NAC Helicopters answers this. Their listings exclude “Meals or additional food and beverages (beyond the welcome glass of bubbly)”, “Transfers outside the specified pick-up and drop-off areas” and “Gratuities (optional)”. Sport Helicopters and Cape Town Helicopters publish no such list on either booking site — on any product. An empty list is not a promise that nothing is added; it means the question is not answered where you book.

All three operators fly from East Pier Road at the V&A Waterfront, but each from its own facility. Sport Helicopters gives the most precise address — “1 Helistop, East Pier Road, V&A Waterfront” — and keeps a separate office at Shop 8, Quay 5; its GetYourGuide listings include “Transport from the V&A Waterfront to the Helistop.” NAC gives “E Pier Road, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, 8001”. Cape Town Helicopters is listed under three different house numbers on Viator alone, so this site names the road and leaves the number out.

Two reasons, and only one of them is a real price difference. First, the operators charge different amounts for comparable routes. Second, NAC prices per group rather than per person: GetYourGuide reports its Cape Point flight as “per group up to 2”. Read as a per-person figure it looks like double. This site shows the price in the unit the seller uses, adds what that works out to per person, and withholds the “lowest price” label whenever the units on a page differ.

The morning. Cape Town’s south-easter — the “Cape Doctor” — blows from late August into March and is strongest in November, which is also the start of the main season. Wind is the usual reason a scenic flight is cancelled or turned around, and it typically builds through the day. A morning slot is the calmer one and leaves room to rebook the same day if the weather closes in.

No. Every booking happens at GetYourGuide or Viator, under their terms, at their price. This site earns a commission if you book through one of the links, and the price you pay is the same either way. Nothing here is ranked by what it pays — the tables sort by price per person.

It is the shortest flight sold, and it is a real flight rather than a joyride around the harbour: NAC’s twelve minutes cover Green Point Stadium, Clifton, Camps Bay, the Twelve Apostles and the City Bowl. What twelve minutes does not include is the peninsula — no seller claims Cape Point, Chapman’s Peak or the False Bay side on this route. If those are what you came for, the 24-to-27-minute and 42-to-50-minute routes are the ones that reach them.

Because they name the route differently. Sport Helicopters sells its twelve-minute flight as a city flight and titles it “City Center” — but the description on the same page names Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Clifton, Camps Bay, the Twelve Apostles and Sea Point, which is the coastal route. Title and description contradict each other on the seller’s own page. Until that is resolved, this site shows no route description for that listing rather than picking the one that sounds better.
